WL//WH Track Of The Day : CONSEJO “Orquidea”

Consejo are a 4-piece from Murcia in the South East of Spain, comprised of Manu (vocals, synthesizer and guitar), Victor (guitar), Javi (bass) and Edu (drums). Born in 2012, after an early formative period that brought to the Cure-influenced debut 2-track single in 2014, the band, as well as losing the final exclamation marks and three members, regrouped in the last few years around founder Manu, former guitarist of La Maniobra de Q and Ángel Calvo, started to develop and perfect a more cohesive and convincing personal sound infused with gloomy and poignant post-punk intensity and dense shoegaze guitar noise.

“Orquidea”, one of the two new songs taken from the brand new “II” CD EP via Moscow‘s label Sierpien Records, is the finest example of their improved and intriguing songwriting. Wooshing reverb-soaked sombre guitar melodies, build a subtle hypnotic atmospheric haze, shadowed by a breeze of wistful synth, deep throbbing bassline and precise and agile drum beats, coalescing seamlessly as dark, dramatic, distressed vocals impose anxiety, angst and despair, albeit a gothic version of Morriss-esque brooding intensity of solitude.

The darker and visceral but equally enthralling “Sangre” completes, with the addiction of two old tracks, a highly recommended EP.

Keep up with Consejo :
