Video Of The Day Panik Deluxe
WL//WH welcomes the Viennese artist Lily Elektra, under her Panik Deluxe moniker, to the blog with a Music Video by Aaron Chaudhry for “twigs”, the second self-released single of 2024 after last month’s TV on the Radio cover “wolf like me”.
Less Electro than in Panik Deluxe’s 2023 debut album, “Without Hope I am Nothing”, via Seayou Records, in “twigs”, a song about how lies break trust and cause an intense amount of psychological harm, both Post Punk and Dark Wave, as well as melody and dissonance come together in a harsh and vibrant, Industrial-dusted, emotional tangle.
Relentless tight thumping drum beats, along with buzzing low ends, shuffle urgently below angsty alarming layers of scratchy synth loops, while aching vocals shift from fear to anxiety to melancholy, breaking into a brief twinkling guitar-laced interlude, before returning to the resounding madness.
The visuals, shot by Aaron Chaudhry, use misty black and white photography to elicit a vintage feel over Panik Deluxe as she climbs toward a ruined castle holding a cross and hammer in her hands. You might be reminded of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with the romantic feminine Gothic look styled by Cameron Lee Felton. The introspective episode of the track fuses with a metaphysical cobweb coated realm that finds the heroine motionless, like a waiting bride. Finally, a symbolic stream of consciousness near the end scrolls elemental imagery, signifying balance, rebirth, and unity.
Keep up with Panik Deluxe:
