Founded in Lessines, Belgium, the birthplace of René Magritte, in the mid-80s, the now Brussels-based cold Post Punk four-piece The Ultimate Dreamers, returns, after a year and a half since their last full-length, “Paradoxical Sleep,” with an Official Video produced by Misty for “Forced to Live”, the first excerpt heralding a new album, “Lost Oneironaut,” due out in March 2027 via Komakino Records and Echozone.

This delightfully dramatic opener plays with the conventions of melancholic post-punk, whilst opening up new sonic horizons. Against a backdrop of plaintive, almost painful guitars, a steady beat marks the steps of a forced march through a monotonous existence. The shadow of Camus looms over the lyrics, somewhere between lucid despair and resigned gentleness.

A dark, introspective, subdued chaos builds a dire greyish realm, anchored by persistent slapping drum patterns, alongside a prominent moody bass line that meanders and carries a sad melody beneath spectral aching smears of atmospheric riffs and poignant deep reverbs laced with light tinkly keys, surrounding layers of haunted, anxious, shadowy male vocals, stuck in a familiar, disturbing, alien headspace, left spinning around the void.

In the Official Video by longtime collaborator Misty, the band walks through an oversaturated black-and-white urban landscape in sync with the bleak nature of the soundtrack. Symbolic editing deploys warped and inverted perceptions, dark, reflective waters, and shifting speeds of motion to bring into view how a troubled, racing, and/or negative mind can change the way one views and exists in reality.
