WL//WH Video Of The Day: RÈMI PARSON “Les Sentiments”

Video Of The Day  Rémi Parson

Nearly three years after the last album, “Arrière-Pays”, Paris based French New Waver Rémi Parson finally drops the first single, “Les Sentiments”, taken from his long-awaited third full-length, “Pour Un Empire”, scheduled for release (Vinyl 12″ LP/Digital) on November 19, 2021 via, Isolaa Records, accompanied by an insightful music video, directed by Rémi Waquet + Jo Anatole AKA Flying Saucers.

“Les Sentiments” is a synth-laden pop affair, with the guitar that plays a textured part, not instantly catchy, albeit gradually irresistibly enveloping and captivating, almost in contrast with its all-consuming anxious nature, struggling in a dystopian race at breakneck speed, brooding over lost dreams, shattered existence, and a disintegrating relationship, while stuck in an eternal loop of confusion.

Relentless feverish moods coalesce through intoxicating layers of urgent and convulsive shrilling synth stabs, syncopated heart-skipping beats, and seething droning bass lines, whilst the racing thoughts of breathless, soft, yet anxious male vocals wander fearfully through aural obstacles of emotional, jittery vibes spiraling off haphazardly into a rumbling ferocity of alienation and angst.

The Rémi Waquet + Jo Anatole AKA Flying Saucers ([email protected] ) visuals suggest symbolic red and blue dimensions alter perception through a sign-of-the-times lens of uncertainty to capture a frustrated rut of stagnancy weighing heavy on a human soul. Disenchanted woods enhance nervous tendencies, triggering a frenetic rush of memory loss, blurry vision, and uncoordinated disorganization whilst a brief excursion away from modern distraction captures a moment of clarity to open the mind’s eye to dangers hidden in plain sight.
