Video Of The Day NICO AMARA
The Basel-based solo Darkwave / Post-Industrial project of the Swiss Experimental composer and multidisciplinary artist Nicole Fior-Greant, under the moniker of Nico Amara, follows her debut album, “Constraints”, with an Official Video planned and edited by Nico Amara herself and filmed by Zak Greant for “Found Life”, the lead song of last September’s 4-track EP, “Constructions”.
The Swiss darkwave artist returns with a thoroughly transfixing, ghostly industrial-dusted EP. Besides an electrifying dance-floor ready remix, the opening track, “Found life,” exudes a dark driving energy that effortlessly pulses a cavernous and pervasive coolness through tight, stark and clattering drum patterns, ominous buzzy bass rumbles, and droning surges of keen, wheezing lashes, sinisterly ricocheting atop deeply hued ghostly female vocals, hauntingly explaining loss, pain, and aimlessness.
To sync with the specterly, unchosen past life described in the lyrics, the DIY Official Video switches between a scene with a lost, vintage-style young lady dressed in black and a colorized, modern Nico Amara who sings “Found Life.” We never see the old self’s face, but from the body mannerisms, we can assume she is unsure of herself, which is in severe contrast to NM’s powerful and confident expression. The clip ends with the younger girl running into the shadows of an underground maze while Nico closes her eyes.
Nico Amara will support Echoberyl on November 28th at Basel‘s Quarterdeck.
