WL//WH Video Of The Day: DEWEY “Jinx” (Official Video)

WL//WH Video Of The Day  DEWEY

Paris-based, French Indie/Shoegaze newcomers, Dewey, drop an Official Video by fellow Parisian Indie filmmakers Emma Birski and Alexis Tinevez for “Jinx”, the first single from the band’s debut album scheduled to be released in February 2026, via Howlin Banana Records.

The four-piece blends late ‘90s nostalgia with a modern sensibility, echoing the sound of current US indie acts like Wishy, Wednesday, Hotline TNT or Slow Pulp.

Nostalgic, off-kilter, and bouncy moods, channeled by an arpeggiator ostinato to supply a melting psychedelic glint, and angsty emotional strains, swirl on top of slinky, shuffling drum beats, and vigorous, humming bass pulses, filled with shuddering noisy guitar riffs, swaying together with restless, emotional vocals, brooding about the contradiction between the desire for popularity and the ephemeral nature of trendiness.

The Official Video, directed by Parisian indie filmmakers Emma Birski and Alexis Tinevez, humorously underlines the band’s (real) discomfort and uneasiness when trying to create promotional material.

Dewey performs “Jinx” on an orange set with gold balloons in sync with the soundtrack. Unfortunately, everything does not go smoothly; a series of mishaps, ranging from part of the décor falling off the wall to a dead microphone, challenge the foursome into a dramatic finale where even the walls come crumbling down.
