Bringing out desperation and reverb from the great North since 2017, D4RKSTAR, the solo Electronic project of Swedish musician and songwriter Andreas Lindh, combines glowing and flourishing icy-bright chilly synth tones with fuzzed-out droning shoegaze textures in the emotionally driven, contemplative “A Different Beat”, the opening track of the freshly released 5-track “Dawns” EP, paired with an Official Video by Andreas Häggström Lind.
Regarding a person who would like nothing more than to be given another chance at life, “A Different Beat” beautifully layers glaring bursts of twinkly icy synthesiser stabs with buzzing, distorted guitar flows, underlied by off-tempo, thumping drum loops, to build up a lush, vibrant, sweeping melancholy atop sad, lonely vocals haloed in a mesmerizing bittersweet celestial clangor.
The Official Video created by Andreas Häggström Lind, a unique, imaginative, nostalgic, and soul-stirring story, begins with Amanda Orozco as an emo/goth girl who is perusing the old records at Music Millennium in Portland, Oregon. She buys D4rkstar’s 2021 “Revolv” album, only to find out on her way home that someone is missing the album and there is a large reward for its return. After some strange symbolic occurrences, she travels deep into the beauty of nature to gain some insight and decides to let Fate take its course.
