Contre Soirée, the Goth Post-punk solo project of Parisian musician, producer, and live artist Olivier Decodts, returns to WL//WH with a video clip for the title track of the forthcoming 4-track EP “Psychiatry”, shaped by a deeply personal experience and emotional intensity, scheduled for release May 23, 2025, via Italian label Veyl.

What may have initially sounded like a PR stunt quickly revealed itself as anything but: “Psychiatry” was conceived, completed, and sent to the label during Olivier’s stay in a psychiatric hospital. The first three tracks form a raw and honest narrative, tracing the events and emotional journey leading up to his hospitalisation and exploring the boundaries between vulnerability and resilience.

“Psychiatry” deploys an obsessive, undulating bassline loop that dictates the frenzied, bouncy pace rumbling away with steady punchy beats, on which distorted buzzing textures, acrid guitar strains, and icy bright swirling synths desolately intertwine around dry, unaffected vocals, explaining the tragic day-by-day experience of a Psych Unit.

Like a dental X-ray, The Official Video bathes Contre Soirée in negative light photography as he performs and dances to “Psychiatry” under the monochromatic haze of an institutional setting.

Contre Soirée’s “Psychiatry” – the 4-track EP is out on May 23, 2025, on Milan’s VEYL Records Bandcamp.
