Video Of The Day ELVIS DE SADE
München-based, German Post-Punk band Elvis De Sade, comprised of founder members Leo Schild (Vocals) and Andreas Rentz (Guitar /Keyboard /Programming /Sampling) along with Cosima Weiske (Synthesizer), and Felix Hölter (Bass), return with a dramatic and enticing video, directed by Johanna Zach, for the evocative track “Ecstasy Blues”, taken from last November’s debut full-length LP, “World For Us”, via Young and Cold Records.
“Ecstasy Blues”, lyric wise, is a bittersweet confession that longs for the warmth and comfort of home whilst consumed by the intoxicating dark airs of a night in the town to elicit feelings of obsession, longing, and uncontrolled passion.
Heady, vibrant atmospheres of soul-stirring emotions coalesce gently abrasive and glistening, obsessive guitar wanderings with high, shivering strains, stunning swirling synth glows, prowling dense bassline menace, and a steady, hypnotic percussive pattern, to underpin the magnetic, heartfelt melancholy of signature baritone broods into the daunting lyrical mood of “Ecstasy Blues.”
Woozy and surreal downtown lounge vibes, captured on location at Café Kosmos by Johanna Zach Light in the centre of Munich, set the stage for a night of reflection, temptation, and relaxation. Distorted city lights cast muted neon mists over two lost souls walking solo through the city, to breathe hypnotic flows of mystery, danger, and romance into an electric-charged skyline. Time-lapsed trails draw mesmeric paths of doubt and shame around shape-shifting shadows, whilst psychedelic backdrops distort strangers’ faces into veiled shrouds to build anticipation from a shady, secret plot while drawing the viewer into a mysterious and edgy urban scene.
