Powder Pink & Sweet, the Los Angeles-based nuanced Dream-Pop band, started in 2016 by the experienced musician Cris Verso, returns with the new introspective single “Shadow Self”, delving into obscure, sensual and oneiric mazey Lynchian realms both faintly unnerving and intensely mesmerizing, dwelling in both extreme beauty and painful intimacy, that simultaneously transfix and sublimate mind and heart.
A song about what it is like to feel the presence of the shadow self lurking, how it disturbs one’s thoughts, and finally, the deadly embrace with darkness.
Hypnotic, crisp, low-slung percussions, along with warm sinuous bass pulses, lilt a fluctuating lush rivulet of shimmery strums and swirling magnetic reverbed guitar tones, to send forth glistening and high trembling tendrils of emotive melodic bliss, in vibrant, tinkling cocooning unison with piercing, frail, whispery vocals, steeped in anxiety and fear.
