Track of the Day MAXIMILIAN
Following last year’s self-produced debut album, “Surrender,” & the Green Man Rising nomination, Brighton, UK based alternative singer-songwriter Maximilian, a steady force in Brighton’s scene since 2021, is leaning into a thoroughly expansive sonic palette with the new single “Long Time Gone,” produced by Bobby Smyth and mixed by Yuri Shibuichi (Honeyglaze, Tapir!, Mary in the Junkyard), the first of a fresh collaboration with fellow Brighton cult label Crafting Room Recordings (ELLiS D, Soft Top, Ideal Living).
Using contemplative, classically acoustic Indie Folk elements, invigorated with minimal rhythmical jolts and restrained, ’90s noisy, electric Rock textures, the song deals with the confusion, insecurity, loneliness, and distrust caused by feelings of abandonment.

A both intimate and heady song, where stirring and tumultuous heartfelt storytelling engulfs the emotive meandering of pensive acoustic strumming and rippling synth fills, slowly, swaying with seemingly gentle, shimmering ease, alongside angsty wistful vocals that soar in a full-bodied expressive, droning flood, then fade into a hopeless and regretful winding release, sadly caressed by the comforting spindly notes of a harmonica.
