WL//WH New Music: ULTRVIOLENCE “Shadowdancing” (Music Video)

New Music  ULTRVIOLENCE

Ultrviolence, the Canadian Darkwave/Post Punk project led by Calgary-native musician Nate Jespersen, now relocated in the rural region of Okanagan in British Columbia, releases a music video for the single “Shadowdancing.”

Imbued with thoughts about Plato’s Cave and the human shadow the song builds a gloomy, sheer passionate majesty, recalling The Cure’s “Disintegration” era, with dry, scratchy ringing guitar riffs and distant anthemic melodies grounded by sonorous, shuffling drum beats and a trembling, rising bassline, surrounding vibrant, struggling male vocals, soaring into bittersweet cries within the candlelight’s flicker and flame.

Inside an old boarded-up house on the side of an overcast lakeshore, Ultrviolence performs “Shadowdancing” in sync with the soundtrack. The tone of the clip is monochromatic grey, but for a brief moment, the beautiful, deep blue night sky shines with countless stars. A colony of bats flies through the cloudy skies at twilight, whilst inside, an imaginative use of lights and shadows broadens the perspective.

Keep up with Ultrviolence:
