It took me a while to realise that the new video was out, better late than never…
Toronto‘s post-punk rockers Frigs, comprised of vocalist Bria Salmena, guitarist Duncan Hay Jennings, bassist Lucas Savatti and drummer Kris Boweringhave, have finally released, last February, their solid and excellent long-awaited debut album “Basic Behaviour” via Arts & Crafts, written and recorded over a 16-month period.
“Talking Pictures” mind-blowing Tom Verlaine-like loud, stark angular guitar riffs set the tense tone and drive the song forward, supported by the powerful rhythm section, creating a hypnotic anxious and mood, intensify by the emotionally affecting, confessional and occasionally forlorn Bria‘s vocals, whose intensity and energy continues to mount into a progressive agonizing, poignant swirl of steady bass throbs and stark guitar chords where Bria channels all her sense of disillusionment and hopelessness in a catharctic and growling ending.
Compelling and urgent, visceral and exciting dark rock’n’roll, a rare thing these days…check it out!
Check also the immersive and kaleidoscopic black & white video directed by Christopher Mills.
Keep up with Frigs :
