WL//WH Interview SLOW TELEVISION

Washington DC’s newest music festival, due on Saturday, June 20, 2026, will feature Shoegaze and Dream Pop bands based in the DC area and beyond.
Philly-based Slow Television makes dreamy, nostalgic pop music, which conjures up feelings of late summer nights watching VHS tapes and driving around nearby neighborhoods, getting lost in thought. Their live shows incorporate old footage from home movies as a visual backdrop to their music. The trio is currently working on new material for their next release.
What are your main influences and inspirations?
Main influences and inspirations are The Smiths, Alvvays, and nostalgia for life before social media and smartphones.
How would you describe your sound?
What does the word ‘dream pop’ mean to you?”
Dream Pop to me means meditative.
Tell us a little about your recording process and how you create your songs.
Which song(s) are you most proud of and best represent the band?
The songs I’m most proud of are “Biology”, “Stage Fright” and “Yearbook”.
What kind of old/new music are you listening to? Any current bands/artists that you are excited about at the moment?
Old music I’m listening to is Blonde Redhead, and a current artist I’m excited about is Sea Lemon.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
A dream collaboration would be with Beach House.
What has been your best/worst gig so far (both as a performer and spectator)?
Best gig as a performer was our first show we put on in our practice space with all our friends and favorite local bands, best gig as a spectator was Fontaines D.C. Worst gig as a performer has not happened yet and worst gig as a spectator was Modest Mouse (outside venue, terrible sound).
What are your expectations for the upcoming Telepathic Windows Fest? What should the audience expect from your performance?
I expect a fun day filled with cool music and an opportunity to connect with like-minded artists. Expect a tight set filled with dreamy pop songs that will make you reminisce and decompress.
What are your plans for the future?
