WL//WH Premiere ALLES EXHAUSTED
Newcomer Viennese Shoegaze musical project Alles Exhausted follows up last September’s self-titled debut mini-album “ALLES EXHAUSTED” via Siluh Records, with a DIY music video for its second excerpt “Zu Asche und Zu Staub” (To Ashes and To Dust).
Started in 2025 somewhere between exhaustion and a spirit of experimentation, as a loose bunch of musicians from Austrian underground bands such as Culk, Jansky, Pauls Jets, and Fuzzybrains, namely Johannes Blindhofer, Romana Jakovcic, Martin Rupp, and Benjamin Steige, Alles Exhausted delivers a contemporary take on the early ’90s Shoegaze sound with German lyrics.
“Zu Asche und Zu Staub” drives a hazy, fuzz-laden vortex of wailing and shivering guitars, churned by relentless, shuffling drum beats, alongside urgent chugging bass pulses, giving way to a clearing of gloomy, drowsy female vocals, anxiously sulking, over cool synth glows and distant, effect-filled riffages, with a layered male/female chorus, unto a droning dreadful finale of squealing distortion.
The DIY Official Music Video, edited by Benjamin Steiger and color graded by Victor Moye-Noza, shows a group of friends riding inside a car down a dimly lit road at night with creepy zombies clinging to the windshield. Lights strobe and shadows distort while water obscures the view through the windshield to bring forth the scary emergency vibe of the soundtrack.
