WL//WH Track Of The Day : HOFFEN “Hide From the World”

Track Of The Day  HOFFEN

As usual we could not miss the weekly band/artist from Mexico

Hoffen is the DIY coldwave/post-punk project of musician Dali Lantzeta from México City, which has shown since the early stages his elegant and modern take on the dark post-punk/new wave of the ’80s.

After the excellent first album “Cold tears of an angel” in 2016, recently remastered on CD, the band is starting to preview new tracks from the sophomore full-length, titled “Blinded”, due to be released at the beginning of 2019

Early indicators are more than promising.

Echoes of The Cure’s “Disintegration” era shine through on the intense and emotional post-punk mid-tempo “Hide From the World”, steady drum patterns, droning distorted guitar and bounding and pulsing bassline, combined with icy repetitive piano notes, hypnotically power the overwhelmingly dark and mournful, cathartic meltdown. The drowning, longing, amazingly scruffy yet vaguely frail vocals deepen a dreadful sense of paralyzing anxiety, desolation and gloom…wailing at late, laced with his infinite sadness, “safe from the world”.

Poignant and immersive, yet rivetingly haunting.

Keep up with Hoffen :
