WL//WH Video of the Day: WAVEPOOL “Blue Moon” (Official Video)

Video of the Day  Wavepool

The French up-and-coming five piece based in Rouen, Wavepool, announce their debut 6-track EP, “Crayola”, slated for release on  October 24th via Howlin Banana Records and Luik Music, with an Official Video by Carine Mansire for the new single “Blue Moon”.

Equally nostalgic and hazy, as well as bright and sharp, the band’s captivating blend of guitar-driven Dream-Pop and Shoegaze glides cozily with grace, imagination, and elegance.

“Blue Moon” is about those moments when nothing really makes sense, and that’s perfectly fine. Absurd and a little lost in an offbeat everyday life, the song invites you to let go and fully live in the moment without trying to figure everything out. It embodies the subtle art of not caring, with a touch of elegance.

Forward moving, emotional, and nervously carefree, “Blue Moon” draws forth limber throbbing bass lines and mid-tempo drum beats under a busy, emotive guitar-laden tapestry of strummed, slightly abrasive, sparkling riffs, warm radiating glows, and an anxious yet casual flourish of blazing leads, wandering along with high dreamy female vocals, layered with soft male backups, to let go of confusion and worry and take in the sights and sounds of the here and now.

In the Official Video by Carine Mansire, what seems like an eternal loop of sameness slightly changes in focus and perception with each cycle. A closed window opens after a living sculptured tunnel is observed. Then, a series of garden flowers proceeds from a tiny, delicate pink cluster tree to a white rose, a purple lotus, daisies, and a blood red lily with a hand reaching out to touch it. Finally, a shadow appears, and the window is covered with drapes again. If you read the lyrics, displayed under the images, an understanding of self-awareness and growth springs forth.

Keep up with WAVEPOOL:
