The Manchester, UK-based dark and hypnotic Electro-Wave three-piece The Cutter gears up for the release of their debut self-titled EP on September 25th via the local cassette label Ramber Records with an Official Video by Alex Richards and Josh Hands for the captivating new single “The Eyes.”
The Echo & the Bunnymen devotees, made up of Ewan Kinrade (Vocals), Charlie Marriott (Guitar) and Lucy Green (Synths), also announce their first London headliner on October 18th at The Old Blue Last and a batch of additional dates, starting from Sheffield‘s Floating Along Festival on September 27th.
The nightly and reflective “The Eyes” relentlessly oscillates on resonant, moody, at times buzzing, bass throbs and tight, punchy programmed drums, shrouded heavily reverbed, mesmeric astral washes of shrilly gleaming guitar tones, shivering and spanning atop brooding, slightly enthralled, male vocals, backed by high haloes, obsessed about showing off a new vision to an important friend.
The cinematic black and white visuals, directed by Alex Richards and Josh Hands, bring to life the alternate persona described in the lyrics using humour and an evocative mask hand-crafted by Eve Gittens. Just like a scary movie, the unwelcome ego appears behind doors, in the mirror, and at random places on the streets. The alter even tries to frighten or possess the other when he lives at home, and when he hangs out with a friend. Be sure to stick around for the twist ending that will surely leave you scratching your head in wonder.
The Cutter‘s upcoming self-titled debut EP is due out digitally on 25th September, also available on Cassette via Ramber Records.
