Kobalin is the new Neue Neue Deutsche Welle/Nu Wave project from Hamburg, Germany-based artist Laura Müller, also known as the frontwoman of the post-Punk band Grundeis and her other solo endeavour Undinxy, who has shared a DIY Music Video for her debut single “Teif Fallen” (Falling Deep), taken from a 4-track EP coming out next year.
“Teif Fallen” (Falling Deep) channels the fragility and restlessness of early 4AD grand magic with a modern production, through a whirlwind of nostalgic bittersweet angst revolving around a meandering lush drape of colorful, glowing synth melodies, over a foundation of tightly bouncy beats and brooding bass tones, while anxiously exuberant female vocals rise and fall in breathless harmonies, to explore doubt, confusion, and feeling lost.
The DIY Official Music Video sets a hazy black and white forest as the surreal backdrop for a mysterious relationship played by Laura Müller and Janne Morgenweck. The sun shines bright through the tall treetops as an intimate, caring moment takes place. Afterwards, Laura’s character runs away in frustration while Janne stares calmly into the camera, syncing seamlessly with the emotionality of the soundtrack.
