WL//WH Video Of The Day: CHARLES EAST “It Holds My Viscera” (Official Video)

Video Of The Day  CHARLES EAST

Charles East, the Oudtshoorn, South Africa-based experimental artist, singer, songwriter extraordinaire returns to WL//WH with the DIY Official Video for “It Holds My Viscera”, the opening track on last December’s 2024 debut album, “Dislocated”, via the defunct label Brucia Records, bridging evocative, impassioned classical piano music with atmospheric moody elements of Doom Metal, Post-punk, and Gothic Rock, sharpened with arresting visceral vocalizations.

“A brooding, high-intensity track, it encapsulates the album’s descent into atmospheric darkness. With its foreboding tone and visceral energy, the single sets the emotional tone for the rest of the album’s immersive and unsettling journey.”

“It Holds My Viscera” is soaked in a heavy, tumultuous heartache that seethes into doom-laden, grungy droning riffs, anxious dramatic piano melodies, underlined by slow stumbling drum beats, to emit ominous thick metallic mists around powerful, haunting dark-folk vocals that quiver into pain-filled howls, to explore primal feelings of loss, distrust, and powerlessness.

In the DIY Official Video, Charles East creates a soul-stirring visual collage, blending crowd-sourced clips with evocative public domain footage to depict the Apocalyptic realm of the soundtrack. The symbolic vision captures the pain and horror of our human existence through a tragic lens of nuclear explosion, demonic possession, and medical experimentation. Near the end, after some negative light inversions, a humble female angel, with a hand placed over her heart, shines hope through the darkness.

Keep up with CHARLES EAST:
