After debuting with a self-titled live EP in 2022, the French Post Punk / Cold Wave band SINTHOME is back on track in the current year with a couple of singles ahead of their imminent first album “The Shadow of the Cross”, due out on September 25th, co-released by Skank Bloc Records, Table Basse Records and No Way Asso.
Following last June’s more strung-out and angular “Lumière Noire”, with the latest single, titled with the Latin idiom “Memento Mori”, literally “remember that you must die”, the 3-piece warns us about the fleeting nature of life and the certainty of death, somehow reminiscent of the French cult ’80s coldwave band Marquis De Sade with a sparkling emotional-ridden guitar work that delves into intriguing heart-rending Television-esque moonlight shadows.
Visceral and hypnotic, “Memento Mori” simmers with the driving thrust of taut, thumping drum beats along with ominous churning throbs of a moody resonant bass line, to charge a shape-shifting guitar that scrapes, writhes, twangs and flares with sheer pain-fueled blazing energy over an urgent rugged downtrodden chant, that soars into deeply emotional, but not overly dramatic, cries haunted by the moon.
SINTHOME’s debut album, “The Shadow of the Cross”, mixed and mastered by Seb Normal (Le Chemin de la Honte, Delacave, Télédétente 666…), will be available in Digital & Vinyl 12″ formats, from September 25th via No Way Asso Records (FR), Table Basse Records (CH), and Skank Bloc Records (FRA/IT).
Keep up with SINTHOME:
