Following last May’s Shad Shadows‘ “Wunderkammer Desire” album, the long-established Italian duo Luca Bandini and Alessandra Gismondi return with their original Post-punk moniker Schonwald, started in 2009, with the new single “Dope My Soul,” the first foretaste from a forthcoming album.
The two piece deftly orchestrates a transfixing and pulsing intersection of turbulent Post-punk moody intensity with surgical, edgy Electro iciness, to deliver a snappy, untamed driving danceable number, “that delves into the dark, shadowy corners of the mind.”
“A sonic journey that feels both aggressive and introspective, capturing the frenetic energy of a late-night descent.”
“Dope My Soul” unleashes an unrelenting hammering drum programming, laced with droning mechanical bass impulses, low flickering synth textures and blistering, pained guitar stabs, to achingly ramble and resonate with an agonizing edge around atmospheric female vocals, turning from soft, breathy and alluring spoken words to loud, anxious cries, exploring disastrous patterns in life.
Compelling sharpened, hard-hitting sonics and raw emotional depth from the Ravenna pair, expect more in the coming weeks/months.
Keep up with Schonwald:
