Every Tuesday EXHYDRIA Radio // poster by Nassia Var

It’s the 8th consecutive season for Mike D (longtime editor of the WL//WH team) on-air, and some things have changed. There is no more Loud Cities radio show. Still, now there is the Wave After Wave radio program on the amazing new internet station ExhȳdriaRadio… just tune in and “embrace the extraordinaire.”

PICKS OF THE WEEK:

  • Isle Of Man, UK Goth Synthpop /Post-punk band Mark E Moon “Fading” lead track of “Fading” EP [Cold Transmission Music]

The Mark Sayle and Phil Reynold led outfit’s new evocative single deals with eternal love, igniting rolling and buzzing bass lines, punctuated by metronomic beats, that incessantly waver and rumble, swept by ghostly, forlorn synth drifts, while heart-rending guitar slivers achingly tranfix devotional baritone vocals backed by somber fading shadows, brooding “we fade away” under the cleansing sunlight.

  • New Jersey Post Punk /Goth Rock band DURL “Your Memory” off the Split Single with Fusea [chvrchbell records]

Moody, lush and obsessive romantic vampire vibes from NJ in a tear-stained confession wrought by gut-wrenching loneliness compels unremitting, urgent drums and grumbling bass lines layered with wailing, reverb-filled twinkling guitars, and spectral synth washes, to inject a bittersweet sparkling, melancholic edge against the empty shadows, encroaching over hoarse, heartbroken vocals painfully longing for a lost love.

  • Los Angeles-based dark electronic duo Sleek Teeth “Gone (SIIE Remix)” from “Gone Remixes” EP

The very first track released in 2023 from Sleek Teeth gets 3 ace remix treatments: from the metal-plated martial and drilling EBM groove by Berlin‘s leather-wrapped hammer of XTR Human, the heavy-hitting peak-time rave hypnotism from Kris Baha, to close in style with the Hi-NRG chugging and buzzing relentless vibrancy of SIIE, combining pounding percussive kick throbs and uncanny radiant tension with frightened airless vocals gasping in panicked disbelief over losing themselves “from the inside out.”
