Phantom Wave, the nuanced Shoegaze power trio out of Broklyn, NY, made of Ian Carpenter (guitar/vocals), Yanek Che (bass) and Rachel Fischer (drums), have shared the equally sharply sparkling and softly immersive rocking second excerpt, “Wanton,” from the upcoming third album, “Echoes Unknown,” scheduled for release on October 17, 2025, via Shore Dive Records.
Phantom Wave floods the listener with a kaleidoscopic and multi-faceted imaginative Shoegaze style, colored with psych, dreampop, post-punk, surf and space rock suggestions, ever teetering between atmospheric reflective gulfs and noisier, droning, fuzzed-out peaks.
Churned and dusked by persistent agile drums along with a moody pulsing bass line, “Wanton” is seamlessly blazed by a striking shapeshifting multi-textural guitar work, that dizzily weaves delicious surfy looping chimes, pinpoint tinkles, achingly skyrocketing into searing expanses and lavish swathes of buzzing distortion around persuasive, introspective vocals, switching between dreaminess, devotion, and frustration, to explore relationship dynamics.
