WL//WH Track Of The Day: MEMORY INDEX “Transpose”

Track Of The Day  MEMORY INDEX

Memory Index is the new Post-punk project of experienced Indianapolis-based composer, singer, musician, and former founding member of proto-psych-punk outfit TV Ghost, Jackson VanHorn

The first single, “Transpose,” via the German independent label Cold Transmission, deals with the sense of disconnection in a digital world, where the past lingers, the future feels uncertain, and the search for meaning often leads us in circles.

The track channels the immersive, gloom-laden shadows, lit with a reflective sheen, of early Factory Records productions, with bleak Cold Wave undertones, steeped into a perpetual lyrical spiral of yearning nostalgia and existential angst.

An echo-laden, murky pressurized environment builds a surreal intimate space to expand over taut, dry, rattling drum beats alongside a humming bassline that pulses and broods in deep sorrowful momentums, surrounded by reverberating washes of minor gurgling effects, tinny, chromatic guitar frets, and chilly, tinkly keys, whilst gentle emotional vocals meander into haunted ghostly obsessions with racing whispery echoes.
