WL//WH Track Of Day: DAZED “Spine”

WL//WH Track Of Day  DAZED

The young Mexico City heavy shoegaze outfit Dazed launches the first single, “Spine”, from the upcoming sophomore EP scheduled for release in November.

In the blueprint of ’90s alternative-rock bands such as Hum, Deftones, and more recently Trauma Ray, the four-piece blend emotive dreamy introspection and burning intensity, lacerating riffs and melancholy-laced melodic subtlety.

Lyric-wise, “Spine” is about clinging to a loved one during a painful, tear stained time period.

Steady, plodding drums spur a dense, aggressive rash of abrasive, fog-laden blankets of guitar distortion, which stack up, screech, and menacingly slow down, overlaid with forlorn, reflective interludes and achingly bleeding skyward spirals, over anguished, delicate vocals submerged by the massive billows of noise.
