Weekly Shoegaze / Dreampop / Psychedelic / Indie Tips – NOVEMBER #45-23

PICKS OF THE WEEK:

  • Valencia-based, Danish/Turkish indie rock /dream pop /psych pop /art rock singer-songwriter BÜNNI “You Can Drug Me If You Want To Baby” first single off of the forthcoming album “Exoskeleton”.

The Danish/Turkish singer-songwriter has been bringing his songs to my attention for years, curiously, now that he has stopped, I will highlight his latest introspective, soul-stirring and lush lyrical ballad built on blurry immersive auras of warm, enveloping bright orchestral strings, stumbling drum beats, and wistful stacks of sparkling piano keys around a lost romantic vocal, giving another his heart and consciousness under a hypnotic starlit sky.

  • Tunis, Tunisia lo-fi /shoegaze /dream pop solo project Glasswing Butterfly “City Lights” debut single

Bittersweet dreamlike shoegazing debut from North Africa composes a captivating and delicate, hazy urban vignette that keenly captures, through an introspective lens, the wonder, sadness, and fear given off by “City Lights”, layers of nostalgic rippling and meandering echoing guitar gleams, emotive dazzling tremolo soars, and warm gauzy spectral synth washes immerse beautiful heartfelt vocals and light hazy echoes, in cathartic droning outflows, to deliver an alienated soul, safely home. Let’s hope he keeps on disappointing his parents and pissing off his old neighbors so that the sounds in his head will continue to inspire his flow.

  • Surakarta, Indonesia Twee /Indie Pop side project by Baban (of Alt-Rock/Shoegaze band Fazzover), Anti. – “Paradoks” first single via Chaotic Pop Records

Another new DIY band from Indonesia through the increasingly consistent Chaotic Pop Records, with the proper influences, roughly from the Pastels to the Sea Urchins, rife with beautiful simple, sun-dappled and heart-warming jangly guitar melodies and jaunty rhythms with a nostalgic twee gleam. The first demo single bounces heartily on crackling weaves of angsty and obsessive chiming guitar melodies, sparkling and echoing around dry gravelly vocals looking for a way to avoid their feelings amid recurring, trembling fear.
