PICKS OF THE WEEK:

  • TREMOLO: 2025 Playlist

Once again, WL//WH is thrilled to support Seattle‘s  Tremolo Fest 2025, three nights of electrifying music with incredible bands on September 25-27. Tickets are already on pre-sale, just follow this link.

  • Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 3-piece alternative /shoegaze /dream pop band Stellamaris “Wave” from the 2-track single “Sunset Overdrive”

The Carioca trio returns after a long break, with a two tracker of evocative classic early 90s Shoegaze aesthetics in its most textured and oneiric tones. The gloomier “Wave” unfurls a vibrant, hypnotic haze of noisy, distorted guitars, stirred by shuffling, loose drum beats and moody, lithe humming bass pulses, to cast a flowing, melancholic droning hiss over dreamy female vocals, lost in sadness and longing.

  • Hungarian indie rock /post-punk /shoegaze solo project of Misli Martin, aka Matrica “INSZOMNIA” single

The young songwriter from Hungary unleashes an electrifying slice of crunchy alternative rock with a moody post-punk edge, through a revving drum programming and thrumming bassline that propels a breakneck rush of serrated, blaring, distorted guitar riffs, amid a quirky, quivering synth-laced respite, frenzily churning and screeching with ominous, droning intensity around urgent, restless vocals, soaring into agonizing fear, to express the loneliness and alienation of modern urban savagery.

  • Mexico City 4-piece dream pop /shoegaze band Melts “Yellow” single

On a similar wavelength as Monterrey‘s Dawn Haze, out this week with yet another captivating single, the Mexico City four-piece Melts deliver an atmospheric and immersive, both caressing and penetrating, Shoegaze sound. “Yellow”, one of two songs recently dropped at the same time, stirs heart-warming poetry, that uses lights and shadows to explore the human condition, creating a dream-like textural setting of blurry, nostalgic, effect-laden waves, penetrated by pain-filled sparkling guitar melodies, to hover and swell with subtle spacious distortion above a mid-tempo pulsing of light trotting drum beats and gloomy, humming bass vibrations, while soft, airy characters of multi-tonal vocals bring forth feelings of melancholy, disconnection, and longing.
