Leere Menge is a Berlin-based Darkwave duo consisting of Aarnav from Permanent Daylight and Deborah from Clichée, which I recently came across by chance via Kiyo‘s IG profile, who will support Leere Menge’s forthcoming special debut album release show at Berlin‘s obergeschosshell on September 20th, 2025.
The pair has dropped their deeply introspective second single, “Durch Den Raum” (Across the Room), described as “their most ethereal work so far”, that fuses Industrial-inflected, clattering rhythmic prowess and penetrating echo-filled guitars with profoundly passionate vocal yearnings of austere and gripping magniloquence, reminiscent of This Mortal Coil’s arcane, liminal otherworldly dimensions.
An ominously rumbling bass loop sets a tense, unsettling mood of lingering gloom into a sizzling clanky floor, persistently streaked by scattered, crisp, thudding kick drums and ethereal bleeding guitar strains, as deeply evocative female vocals, blending sensual pain with haunted anger and powerful soaring devotions, explore the inner world of light and shadow, fear and desire, fullness and emptiness.
