Weekly Shoegaze / Dreampop / Psychedelic / Indie Tips – NOVEMBER/DECEMBER #49 – 22
PICKS OF THE WEEK:
- Sydney, Australia lo-fi /noise /dream pop /shoegaze 5-piece TRILLION “Soft” first single from the 2023 debut LP “So Soon Now”
The Sidney-based squadron, tumultuously weaponized with three guitars, blends 70s tinged Pop harmonies with a classic fuzzed-out shoegaze wall-of-sound, to give us a tease of next year’s anticipated debut LP with a dreamy, fuzzy and chaotic tide of thick guitar distortion that ebb and flow, interspersed by rippling piercing strains, with enveloping woozy and ecstatic groovy intensity, to blast angsty call and response of vocal longings into reverb charged surges of electric intoxicating skies.
- Wilmington, North Carolina Dream Pop /Jangle Rock /Shoegaze band Lauds “Somehow” the second single from their 2023 debut album ‘Imitation Life’ via Fort Lowell Records
Second preview from next year’s debut LP for North Carolina‘s 5-piece weaves nostalgic introspective dreamy haze pitched with billowy jangly 6-string chimes, through a skittery scrum of obsessively winding and shimmering guitar melodies laced with wistful glistening strains, underpinned by sinuous limber basslines and shaky drums, to shudder with mercurial radiance over bittersweet romantic vocals, longing in loving memories amid sparkling angsty auras of starlit muses.
- K based experimental /dream pop /alt-pop collective FIRESTATIONS “Swim Under The Winter” single on Lost Map Records’ PostMap Club
Whimsical space-pop flyers conjure a prescription for surviving tough times, casting retro-futuristic sheens over an eclectic fusion of organic and synthetic flairs, that vibrate gently through steady heart-throbbing drum beats, shimmery guitar chords, warbling spacey synth curls, and tinkling keys, whilst an array of vocals layer breathless anxiety, high celestial whims, and hypnotic chants into a mercurial underwater prism of endless dreams.
