PICKS OF THE WEEK:
- New Jersey-based Ambient /Shoegaze /Dream Pop duo of Travis Trevisan and Christina Hernandez, Slow Salvation “The Ghost of Last Christmas” single [Velvet Blue Music]
A spellbinding ethereal Christmas single from the Dream Pop duo, this coming from someone mostly annoyed by the sort, which glides through mesmerizing chiming trails of trembling reverb-filled guitar shimmers, underlaid by shuffling drums, bringing gifts of heartfelt memories through fluffy ghostlike vocals of dreamy joy, breathing “Take me home.”
- Madrid, Spain retrowave /dreampop /shoegaze foursome Novel Driver “Cliff Diving” single
A fine combination of introspective dreampop nostalgia and swirling shoegaze wistfulness. As a relationship hangs on the edge of a cliff, the song drifts across urgent blurred fuzzed-out churns of reverb-drenched guitar distortion with cresting ringing ripples and agonizing piercing leads, against layers of angsty melancholic vocals, preparing for the fall amid cherished, hard-to-forget memories.
- UK lo-fi /ambient /folk-pop woodland meditations from members of Firestations, The Leaf Library and Marlody, Mirrored Daughters “City Song” from upcoming debut s/t album [Fika Recordings]
“Lo-fi folk-pop and explorative woodland meditations from members of Firestations, The Leaf Library and Marlody.” The pleasantly endearing early foretaste from next February 2025 debut LP, unfurls on serene sparkling acoustic fingerpicking, stirred by soft percussions, round bass pulses, warm tonal cello inlays, and melancholic string flourishes, to frame heartfelt wide-eyed vocals, with the warmth and comfort of a nostalgic surrounding amid the encroaching menace of city sounds.
We proudly announce our partnership with eardrum buzz radio and Shore Dive Records in sponsoring #gimfest2 in Boom Leeds on 7th December. Get your tickets at this link.
