- Russian shoegaze/dream pop 5-piece from Moscow, Life on Venus “What Lies Beneath” from the sophomore album “Odes To The Void”
The debut album of the Russian outfit Life on Venus is the perfect sum of what we crave in the shoegaze realm. It’s elegant, blissful, magnificent, otherworldly, mesmeric at times dark and dramatic. Surely one of the best ‘beautiful sound’ albums of the year so far… hardly being lost in the void has been so magical!

The enticing “Petrichor” from Mancunian combo is an infectious clash between noisy and delicate guitar tones over moving passion-ridden soaring vocals, as euphoric as it is vertiginous, infusing unrestrained The Verve-alike transcendent epic qualities that draw you in an indiscernible emotional catharsis.

Elodie Pereira is a talented young artist with a strong knack for writing seemingly simple dreamy songs permeated with moving tension and vibrant emotional impact. “All That’s Said And Done”, a tremendously intense and sadly enchanting semi-acoustic ballad with heartfelt folk spirit and dream pop attitude, adorned by Elodie’s clear and rich soothing voice, seems just to remind somehow that the strength and depth of our feelings and emotions can be very powerful even without noise.
