• New Cross, London indie jangle-pop DIY band The Hannah Barberas “W.Y.E.” from the “Fallow Days” EP
  

Usual umpteenth brilliant collection of lockdown home-recordings from New Cross outfit through jaunty Americana tinged indie pop tones, soulful strumming grooves and shimmering melancholic harmonies, amid a touching Motown-flavoured cover of early 70s Hanna-Barbera’s cartoonish band Josie & The Pussycats, but the highlight comes from the jittery, abrasive riffage and serpentine bassline of “W.Y.E.”, fueling overwhelmed and anxious male vocals swept in grateful exhaustion, that encourage us to better appreciate our bitter survival from the ‘Worst Year Ever.’ All proceeds going to Lewisham Foodbank.

• Canadian indie/dream pop songwriting and music collaboration between James Gray and Nathan Athay from Toronto, SOFT SET “7 on Up” from upcoming “Love and Dancing” (EP)
  

Dizzying melancholic and nostalgic moods exude by jangly sparkling guitar melodies and spiralling icy bright synth hazily shimmer around airy calm vocals, that fall dreamily into an extreme happy daze. Enticing 2nd preview from the Toronto‘s duet.

• Australian bedroom dreamy synth pop project of Melbourne-based Brooke Yallop, aka Blessè “Sudoku” off V/A ‘Stay Inside: Songs from the Great Indoors’ cassette compilation via Blossom Rot Records & Dinosaur City Records
  

In a huge compilation with loads of indie goodness from Down Under, I got totally a crush on the Brissè, I guess, second-ever tune. Those alluringly sinuous bassline heartbeats, that throbs into your soul long after it’s over, rippled by crystalline guitar shimmers, amid smooth rhythmic patterns and sparse tinkling piano notes, elicit intense emotional wanderings, prickled by bright awakenings and dreary fantasies, left unpredictably numb, blurring time in space less mundanity. Sublime!
