Weekly Shoegaze / Dreampop / Psychedelic / Indie Tips – July #30-21

PICKS OF THE WEEK:
  • Australian bedroom shoegaze duo from Adelaide, LUCE CARGO “Drifting Off” second single.

Buzzing, abrasive sophomore single from Adelaide DIY duo, replete with over-driven and energetic layered riff-laden shoegaze guitar sound, shimmer and swirl amid a tumultuous haze of warm fuzz and distortion, vaguely infused with Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘1979’ like-harmonies wrapped in reverb, over fragile high anxious female vocals drifting brimful of harsh disconnected fear into an overwhelming noisy swarm of emotional turmoil. A nice promising second effort for a working in progress band maybe still too stuck to their own muses.

  • Barrie, Ontario power-pop /indie-pop quartet CLUB SILENCIO “When You Talk About What You’re Into” (Single)

Utterly endearing new single from Canadian outfit of rickety nostalgic indie groove and woozy sun-dappled melodic charm. A whimsical yet angsty blend of swishing dragging rhythms, sad meandering airy keyboards, obsessive glistening spidery guitar strings, and elastic bass tones carry distressed emotional male vocals through the agony and ecstasy of relationship blues.

  • Wiltshire, UK indie rock /dreamgaze /shoegaze /dream pop musician, singer and songwriter, Archie Sagers “Glitter” second and final single from Archie’s upcoming E.P. “New Colours In The Sky” on his own Crafting Room Recordings

Crafting Room Recordings head honcho combines, with usual freshness and balance, 80s British suggestions (Field Mice, The Cure, New Order), to depict shimmering melancholia and hazy dreamy introspection laced with the cinematic vibes of a rainy evening in Brighton, as raindrops fall over a web of glistening guitar progressions, off-tempo beats, and pulsing, snaky basslines, whilst fragile, baritone, male vocals, echo angsty, nervous observations into the warm blowing synth swathes’ brassy nostalgic tones.
