Weekly Shoegaze / Dreampop / Psychedelic / Indie Tips – JULY 2024 – #29-24

PICKS OF THE WEEK:

  • Melbourne, Australia dream-pop /shoegaze quartet Sorry, Dave “Simply Disappear” single from the upcoming album “Sink”

According to the Aussie band ”Simply Disappear” is their heaviest song yet, where massive self-doubt stirs urgent driving rhythms with immersive fluid swells and flourishes of emotional, shimmery distorted blankets woven by invigorating fuzzed-out guitar turmoil, to reverberate over and conceal sad, angsty vocals and high fragile halos with endless surges of alienation and angst.

  • Helsinki-based psychedelic rock /shoegaze /dreampop band Indigo Dream “Waterfall” from debut self-titled EP

Dreamy & shimmering sounds from the international group based in Helsinki fronted by our old acquaintance, the former Juliper Sky singer Jamie Sarja-Lambert. The band depicts evocative and arcane, vaguely psychedelic, soundscapes, built on intricate sheets of shimmering guitars that hover lightly over captivating vocal harmonies; 5 songs that reserve the best part at the start with the Britpopian ballad “Avalon” and the sparkling arpeggios of “Electric Dreams”, on which a groovy Stone Roses-style rhythmic pattern would not have disfigured, and above all the splendid initial uplifting, all about a beautiful intimate relationship, through a bright shimmery aura of soaring sparkling guitars spinning around emotional vocals brimming with a waterfall of love and hope.

  • Seville, Spain dream-pop /noise pop /shoegaze band led by fran lora, flu flu “Volverás” single from the upcoming 4th album.

Another return for a familiar band, Valencian band fuses fuzzed noise and brittle bittersweet melody, through its typical electrifying swirling flows of distorted loud guitar energy, soaring like a sunrise laced with warm radiant swathes and misty glows, around soft dreamy vocal longing, to evoke a light airy feeling of vibrant hope.
