PICKS OF THE WEEK:

  • Austin, TX-based experimental /ambient /shoegaze solo project of Haley Davidson, aka Dottie “Pure” single

The transcendent, thoroughly immersive song, conveys the deep restlessness and vibrant tension that represent the distinctive traits of Dottie’s atmospheric reverb-drenched ghost-like sonic dimensions, that build on seamless changes in intensity, crescendos and relaxations, boundlessly powerful in places, soft and intimate in others, in whose alternations echo the torments of a soul struggling between pain and catharsis, drifting us into an unadulterated purity of sounds and emotions.

  • Taiwan 4-piece dream pop /slowcore /shoegaze band chirrp. “Silhouette” single

An atmospheric, highly emotive, introspective new single from the Taiwanese shoegaze foursome, permeated with a brooding bittersweet edge, that moseys into a loose sprawling shimmery wave of textured guitar swells, rippling and wistfully trembling over deeply sad, dreamy vocals, layered with hums of longing and letting go as a person stands on the beach when it starts to get dark and has a blissful memory, before it slowly starts to dim.

  • Oslo, Norway dream pop /noise rock /shoegaze trio of Astrid Garmo (Pumpegris), Emil Askelien Gustafsson (FOAMMM) and Mikkel Syvertsen (FOAMMM), Scoreboard “Rush Spells” single from the upcoming EP «Combat lvl 3»

Second entralling single from the freshly formed experienced Oslo-based three-piece, rife with both scintillating and noisy sugary melodic charm. A song about struggling to put your life back together after a difficult time, sways with entrancing radiance on relentless swirling and sparkling guitar chimes, reverberating wistfully over high-angst reflective vocals, gliding, whilst brimming with hopelessness, on a flowing, bracing haze of fuzzed-out textures, trying to find the right environment in which to heal.
