PICKS OF THE WEEK:

  • Boulder, CO based shoegaze /dream pop band led by musician and composer of Korean origin, Jeehye Ham, aka Precocious Neophyte “Flow” single

Probably even more fluidly immersive and stirring than ever, the new single “Flow” coaxes us into a luminous and nostalgic shivering ambience, weighty in its emotional core and at the same time light as a feather, woven by lilting, sheer guitar strums, glinting ripples, and frothy cascading washes, imbued with wistful softly anxious vocals, dreamily floating over sways of coated painful chaos and dreamy gloom.

  • Philadelphia-based indie rock /psychedelic /noise /dream pop project of twin writing team Ryan and Martin Rex, aka Soft Skies Inc “Sin Some / Lose Some” single

Guitar-noise pop brilliance from the Philly-based twins in one of those songs you’ll never get tired of, that literally glides and floats on stumbling drum beats in a buzzing fusion of power pop a la Big Star and 90s Indie Rock, laced with warm fuzzy guitar riffs, echoing sparkling bittersweet melodies, piercing distorted leads, and glowing keyboard washes, to carry moody frustrated vocals, pleading for relief, through a stormy influence.

  • Denver, Colorado grunge /shoegaze /grungegaze band Creek “Unbalanced” from “Creek // Ghostlike” split EP

We already enjoyed the classic, dexterously constructed, moody grungegaze sound by the Denver outfit, a tumultuous alternation of excruciating lashes of distorted guitar riffs and spectral reverberated interludes of pensive simmering introspection creates an immersive, fully inebriating and intense atmosphere, rife with visceral emotional hept, encapsulated by ghostly, melancholic vocals that break into vicious submerged screams during a traumatic breakup.
