Weekly Shoegaze / Dreampop / Psychedelic / Indie Tips – JUNE #22-23

by ©Tyler Spangler

PICKS OF THE WEEK:

  • Italian dreamy /new wave trio Ultrasaturated “Horsegait” second single

The second single for the Italian dream wavers drives urgent lovelorn strain over the pain-filled glitters of sparkling guitar melodies and remote lonely synth flares, layered over vibrant intense throbbings of steady punchy drum beats, and obsessively sonorous rubbery bass lines, into intoxicating rippling restlessness around dreamy, angsty vocals, longing in romantic moods.

  • Naga, Philippines-based post-rock /shoegaze /noise-pop solo project of Marl Amador, Possvm “Ikigai” (Single)

Noisy, ethereal and utterly immersive concoction of Shoegaze, Dream-pop, and Post-rock, “Ikigai” stirs introspective emotions, that float and echo over hazy textures of restrained abrasive distortion and wistful dreamy reflections, doused with celestial bedazzling cathartic surges, to immerse drowsy melancholic vocal layers in reverb-driven pluming outflows from heavily blurry moods.

  • UK jangly indie-pop side project of a member of the twee indie pop trio The Happy Something, aka Happy Feliz “In Another World” from the upcoming CD debut album “Happy As You Like” via Subjangle

Less twee and surreal than the main band, Happy Feliz‘s melodically reflective and breezy bittersweet Jangly Pop sound winds acoustic, vibrant, shimmery guitar-driven arrangements with swirly echoing sparkling overlays and enveloping keyboard swathes, underlied by stirring tight drum beats and low humming bass lines, whilst breathless angsty vocal confessions, avoiding a romantic breaking up by dreaming “In Another World.”
