PICKS OF THE WEEK:

  • Montpellier, France Americana /electronic /slowcore /folk /dream pop /indie pop singer-songwriter Frank Rabeyrolles “You Run” first excerpt from the upcoming album “Slow 2” [Too Good To Be True]

The first excerpt from the upcoming second part of the diptych, “Slow 2”, as the title hints, slow things down almost in lethargic slowcore moods, drifting over a delicate sun-dappled haze from sparkling guitar textures drenched in reverb and delay, to reflect and tremble with pensive melancholy, to then wincing and rippling loosely on the air, punctuated by softly abrasive, anxious vocals, airily falling, whilst repeating “You Run” with a hopeless feeling of being left behind.

  • Paris-based ambient /shoegaze /dream pop four-piece Yumi Jun “Falling” single [In Real Life]

In their third single, dropped a couple of weeks ago, the young Parisian quartet reveals a captivating penchant for smooth, lush arrangements and immersive mesmerizing ambience, where soft unhurried percussions and slinky, rubbery basslines melt with reverbed, shimmering guitars and atmospheric textures, to engulf, like a warming haze, reluctant, wistful female vocals, rooted in slowed down thoughtful feelings, turning airily blissful, while slowly falling in love.

  • Cardiff-based dreamy indie pop Italian duo Lunar Bird “Sinderesi ” first Italian language single to be released on a forthcoming EP entirely in Italian

Released simultaneously with the new EP “Whatever Time We Have Left”,  in which its English version is included, “Sinderesi” unfolds like a continuous inner flow, a place where the human soul divides, collides, and mirrors itself through its opposites. So the Welsh-based two-piece usher us into their first native language song about total confusion due to a mental conflict between self and others. Swept in a spellbinding fusion of electronic and organic melancholy, a warming, lush sweeping orchestration and earnest, heart-pulsing rhythms juxtapose with and cocoon layers of vibrant dreamy yet expressive female vocals soaring into anxious doubt, to bring forth  a comforting, immersive, colorful release of fear and alienation.
