For some time brilliantly established as a seal of Dreampop quality with at least, if things go badly, two weekly new songs that shine with their own light, Spirit Goth label presents the London-based solo project, returning this year after a long hiatus since the 2021 debut single, which deftly creates dreamy tunes with soft, warm and breathy vocals that harmonize with stirring and delicate glistening guitars and nostalgic fluid carpets of glowing keyboards, floating in vibrant bittersweet longing for endearing lovelorn romance.

A compelling anxious and gloomy dark lullaby led by high-pitched dreamy vocals that suffer under the unspoken words of the “girl with the screaming gaze”, sways on an electrifying guitar carpet of sparkling arpeggios and emotive strums, swelling with soaring hypnotic sadness and swirling along achingly obsessive spindly wails, left aching with emotional cries of pain.

The seemingly 2-track demo by the Jakarta unit Crayon Cats grabs us with their anachronistic, no less engaging and captivating, noise-pop laced with vibrant loud-laden punk urgency concealed and softened in a delicate and heartfelt melancholy, with catchy, buzzing and fully engaging results. “It’s a love story willy nilly” is about a relationship forged in fantasy and deception, igniting a rapid flow of frenetic ringing guitars, anxious bass pulses, and driving drum beats, to carry child-like vocals through the tumultuous friction.
