PICKS OF THE WEEK:

  • Seattle, WA 4-piece indie /noise rock /shoegaze band NO FLOOR “Loop” single

The gloomy gazey four-piece from Western Washington drops a new single, “Loop”, about being tired and not feeling good. Exploring the band’s more introspective and haunting strains, the song floats on the obsessive stirring wistfulness of resonant sparkling guitar chords, washed by harsh bursts of jagged fuzzy riffs and strident soaring wails over lush, drowsy vocals, going through bouts of restlessness, amidst snippety chatter, with endless loops of melancholy and angst.

  • Philadelphia, PA bedroom /dream pop /indie pop trio Slow Television “Biology” single

Philly trio unravels a sweet, reflective, yet beat-driven, urgent dreampop sound that draws foggy and gauzy dilated soundscapes, lit by swaying jangly guitars layered with atmospheric synths glimmering in the background, while sad, introspective vocals, with high haloes, turn to racing angst before airy spiraling arpeggios herald letting go with rejuvenating feelings of growth and wisdom.

  • Vigo, Spain shoegaze /indie pop trio LINDA GUILALA “Momento” a song recorded especially for the compilation album celebrating the tenth anniversary of the German label Dreams Never End [Elefant Records]

Staples of the Spanish independent music scene for around 17 years with an increasingly refined and well-rounded, atmospheric and edgy at the same time, blend of Dream-Pop and Shoegaze, repropose the unreleased track “Momento”, part of the brilliant Dreams Never End label‘s 10th anniversary compilation released at the end of last year, about the fear and feelings of giving up that come after a loss. The song billows through hazy, distorted guitar textures and stirring synth-laced atmospheric spirals to immerse deeply saturated, wistful female vocals, gently radiating and gliding, whilst lost in glimmers of sadness, hope, and comfort.
