I relish tracks introduced by a warbling throbbing, and sonorous bassline foreboding high-strung danger, stabbed by ringing edgy guitar abrasion, think about ‘Public Image’, that shrieks a hazy daze propelled by steady turbulent clattering off-tempo drums, around floaty vocals, anxious hums, and un-cheery resolutions left swimming in the feedback-strewn toxic fumes of summer skies. Utterly intriguing unheard gems resurfaced by the brilliant Bay Area label for who, like me, missed the first chance.

Deliberately humble mysterious new side solo project from Mississipi leaves aside lately new wave-ish swirling synths to taking up dire emotional guitar lines of anthemic, Smiths-esque melancholic jangly quality, to sew shuddering painful memories that unfold atop cold haunted distant male vocals, dripping breathless angst into the shimmering floaty haze of swayful brood.

London and Los Angeles duo fuzz their way through blissfully abrasive guitar melodies, noisy and airy at the same time, fueled by punchy drum beats, to surge into an intense momentum of emotional energy around airy harsh male whisper’s narcotic release of intimate and thrill-seeking insights about the “Mistress Pessimist.”
With no shortage of harmonies and hooks, the band’s first outing does its job to the fullest to revive early 90s vibes for less than 5 minutes of a breezy shoegazing distorted jam.
