PICKS OF THE WEEK:

  • Portland, OR psych /post-punk /shoegaze band Ten Million Lights “Hit The Floor” third single from the upcoming LP

Portland‘s foursome ably manage the emotional timbres and instrumental hues, to grip and immerse the listener within a moody, dark and swirling slow burner, laced with spacey and atmospheric cinematic qualities, that floats amid bittersweet contemplative shimmering bends and desperate heavy surges of crushing distortion on which sway wistful, pained vocals, yearning for silence whilst blinded by light, to become split, after acoustic intervals of impending doom, between distant hopeless spoken words and agonized celestial radiance, inching tensely toward a flooding chaotic crescendo as it fatally fades away into the infinitude.

  • Bedford, UK indie rock solo project of Jon Behrendt, aka Last Days of Rome “Nothing Extraordinary” 4th single from the upcoming 4th album, “We Live In Hope.”

The English DIY songwriter returns with an upbeat indie rock song about self-discovery, as is his custom, brimming with stirring, melancholic moods and straightforward, fiery electric vigor, heightened by his distinctive, powerful, and evocative vocal delivery, which fluidly oozes raw, soul-wrenching passion. After a letting go, heartfelt, prominent vocals held up by a steadfast pulsating heart of tight percussion and vibrant, ringing guitar riffs, try to remain stable, with triumphant cries whilst riding a lasting moment of clarity.

  • Glasgow, UK indie rock /dream pop band Pedalo “Picture It Backwards” single

Irish five-piece delivers bright and captivating dream pop with shoegaze undertones, buzzing with uplifting and melancholic charm. The song deals with a feeling of imposter syndrome, emoted through lush, vibrant, angsty female vocals, carried by lively drums, nervous bass pulses, chimey wistful piano keys, and jagged, noisy guitar riffs, to regretfully brood and passionately soar over intense emotional swings caused by acceptance and letting go.
