• Kyiv, Ukraine lo-fi post-punk solo project (formerly Night Excitement), Night Voyager “Tempting”                       

Sparse releases, albeit not at the expense of quality for the Ukrainian one-man band with his nocturnal atmospheric, and poignant 80s-tinged post-punk. “Tempting” is driven by a warbling thick bassline throbbing and wandering with lilting obsessive desperation, sharpened by heartwrenching guitar tears and icy glaring swathes of ceremonial synth desolation, around cold terse baritone huffs, dropping simple romantic observations into wine-soaked memories of love.

Chicago based group seamlessly explore, with increasing confidence, the equally cold and warm, atmospheric emotional fragility of moody melancholic post-punk, deftly drawn from the Smiths and the Cure heritage. The new single elicits urgent distressing moods stirred by the intense hypnotic pulsations of snaky dense basslines and punchy drum beats, seeping through an intoxicating glistening web of spidery crispy guitar chimes, whilst angsty morose vocals sulk desperately into guilty longings and breathless apologies of romantic regret.

As usual impeccable cold atmospheric 80s-tinged post-punk with sombre and misty tones from the French musician; the new single weaves eerie. haunting evocative textures that shimmer, grind and glisten, amid repetitive crunchy beats and humming bass loops, into forlorn esoteric progressions of cosmic synth elegies and poignant guitar ripples, tearing apart the aching soul of blurry ghostly distorted moans of cold lamentous suffering.
