I’m always delighted to hear something new from Kaliningrad finest, even if you could always presume what to expect, the band constantly show a slightly new evolution in the production and songwriting quality that you didn’t notice at first, but has invariably its own meaning, this time it’s a new jittery electronic twist and, if possible, even more urgency and energy, and more importantly, a ton of great songs. Highly recommended through the unmistakable Detriti Label.

• Moscow-based electronic synth-pop/dream pop /post-punk/new wave project of Dmitry Gruber, Galatée “Ils” [100th Anniversary Single] on his label Hjördis-Britt Åström
  

100th Anniversary celebrative single for the main project of the recently Moscow based prolific multi-instrumentalist /composer Dimitry Gruber. Someone could consider his formula a little too repetitive, but his elegant and understated ethereal synthpop meets new wave sound with French female spoken vocals (different singers have come and gone over the years, the last one is Vasilisa Vshivkova), whilst shows a sophisticated sense of production and a strong accent on the aesthetic quality, is its subtle and relentless nostalgic, and wistful charm to stand out, wishing us further 100 releases to celebrate.

The Liverpool-based band have always had a remarkable ability in refining and updating the best stylistic nuances of the heydays of UK goth-tinged new wave and post-punk, on his fourth LP, judging from the early previews, the band’s elegant, ethereal and introspective dark sound doesn’t seem to know tiredness but, on the contrary, weave spellbinding dark atmospheres that effortlessly move between acoustic and electric, always able to build an imaginary bridge between past, present, and future in the name of a glorious sound that still continues to find its ‘raison d’etre’.
