I feel a little uncomfortable writing about a band from a guy I know, but I turn my focus on the deadly energy and passion radiated from the supremely tight rhythm section and swirling soul-piercing guitar melodies that shapeshift, spark and chime in the best Billy Duffy way over evocative epic vocals hooking you relentlessly into their catchy shadowy haze. Aptly mastered by the excellent Kill Shelter man Peter Burns, an infectious earworm of a single.

I’m short of adjectives to describe the dynamic synth & beats laden ‘rock’n’roll’ duo S Y Z Y G Y X. The new album is just an amazing piece of darkwave songcraft that fulfills all the qualities that one could look for. Dark danceable, trippy, elegant, but above all intense, sensual and menacing in an all-pervaded concoction of blistering dark energy and brilliantly tweaked pop sensibility. New poignant and intriguing EP from Colombian artist made of tight frozen hypnotic beats, scrappy and abrasive barrage of synth and buzzing baseline over detached deep baritone vocals with a menacing and harrowing edge, that absorb the listener into a transfixing fog of claustrophobic dread.
