• Colombian (Synth-Dark-Minimal) Wave trio from Manizales, Actor Red – “Across The City” from V/A “El Ritmo del Murciélago” 7th compilation album by Bat Beat Records
  

There is something for everyone this week…Starting with the mammoth Side-Line Magazine‘s post-punk compilation, to continue with the multimedia underground organization Bat Beat that celebrates 10 years of activity serving up a curated offering of twenty sparks of creativity fermenting within the Colombian scene through different shades of the dark sound. Albeit we are familiar with many acts (Antiflvx, Azar Paralelos, Climas Interiores, Noromakina, Das Kelzer, La Procesión de lo Infinito, Old Providence, Tan Lejos, Ana Gartner, Okvlta among others), many of the others are worth your investigation. Listen and linger: it’s the sound of a scene piled with heartfelt talent.

Swirling, brooding highly danceable latest single from darkwave trio from Norway dropped at the start of last August and somehow missed. Whilst the original version is probably my favourite, noteworthy are the follow-up two remixes, the first, from their side project Rêve Sombre, adds buzz and rhythmic punch, while the latter by the veteran German dark electro duo Pyrroline increase the goth-tinged swarming surreal synth epicness around the already anthemic and dramatic urgency of male vocals brimming with breathless pain and longing into an emotional buildout of heartbroken dreams.

Second, enthralling, ’80s inspired new single still wavers between nightly darkwave and wistful synth-pop with a stuttering retro rhythm section, shimmering lush synths soaked in melancholy, swirling around a wandering contemplative, sad female vocal to capture the distraught lyrical essence of lost emotions and somber days with a sentient longing to fill the endless void of isolation.
