- Hildesheim, Germany goth pop /future pop /synthpop duo Kai Vincenz Németh & Michael Deiters, AKA Beyond Border “Perfection (feat. BlakLight)” from “Perfection” album (16 international artists provide their interpretation of the instrumental track “Perfection”)
Nominated by more in-depth specialized blogs as synthpop artists of the year not long ago, the German duo Beyond Border asked 16 international artists to provide their own version, often in their own language, of the sentimental instrumental electro-pop ballad, “Perfection”, pervaded by emotional strings of tinkling tear-jerking piano notes. As far as we are concerned, among the many, we highlight the version of the L.A. duo Blaklight with the deep and romantically melodic vocals of Brian Belknap, brimming with vibrant melancholy that, floating through crisp skipping beats and bright shivering synths, always knows how to touch the right chords.

Reduced to a duo, Leeds‘ noiseniks drop their most accomplished release to date. A jarring, somehow harmonious, cacophony of martial, frantic and droning drum machines, stabbing, distorted and dissonant guitar slivers, and haunted declaiming vocals, to lure an unhealthy, exhausting and blistering tour de force, amid Big Black, Chrome and The Fall inflexions, to outline an angsty and desolate scenario which will give you relentlessly yet compellingly no truce.

Intercepted on Soundcloud, the debut demo from a young Peruvian one-man band, consisting of homemade skeletal sketches, mostly sounding like a study on the 80s post-punk classics, wrapped in a vein of crepuscular dream pop. “Monster”, the one and only demo to be recorded in the studio, stands out pulsing through urgent rhythms, droning bassline, captivating wandering chilly tinkling Curesque guitar lines over distorted angsty vocals for a clearly familiar sound, we’ll never get tired of. A remarkable starting point.
