The longstanding heartfelt ventures of L.A.-based DIY musician and composer, under the Mortal Boy moniker, into the everchanging nuances drawn from the 80s dark sounds, open up into new sparkling digital recording horizons, embodied by the atmospheric, brooding and dramatic new single of dreamlike and refined, echoing Xymox and Joy Division (the latter in the vocal inflexions), Darkwave artistry, cloaked by winding drapes of lonesome melancholic synths that swirl and expand into cold, dying waves of lovelorn memories over sad, pain-filled vocals burdened with confusion, fear, and loss.

Sharing the same eerily pulsing and brooding gothic energy of early Sisters Of Mercy and Nephilim, the new single from the reinvigorated mid-91 formed cult Paulista band with the Teutonic name of Das Projekt unleashes undulating buzzing basslines and scary relentless shredding wiry guitar strains to weave chaotic restlessness around ominous baritone broods and impassioned cries to fall anxious and alone into a desperate “dark silence” of fear. First met through a remarkable remix of a song by the charmant Gloria De Oliveira, and subsequently with an album that collects 20 years of undercurrent DIY productions, the Swedish electronic musician builds a cold, dark yet emotive synth-laden sound teetering on the edge of seemingly different ‘wave’ styles, amid flowing bittersweet lilting harmonies and heart-stirring glittering strings, rife with fanciful romantic melancholia. Crisp, snapping beats, together with an obsessively buzzing oscillating bassline, pulse with angsty urgency mantled by icy bright epic synth sweeps of hope and warm swells of passion whilst soft, vulnerable vocals commit to a “lucid green” ceremony of undying love.
