“Close Eyes” carves out into the people’s temptation to shut one’s eyes and remain blissfully ignorant about the current state of world affairs, blending ghostly sorrowful melodies with razor-sharp intensity, on which impassioned lush vocals wander through a simmering haze of shuffling rhythms, sonorously brooding bass pulses, and pain-filled layers of distorted, atmospheric guitars wreathed with an excruciating edge, longing for, and agonizing over escape and indifference.

“Remains” cuts through the thick darkness with gloomy, sharp-edged atmospheric post-punk allure, combining the resonant, hard-hitting churn of stark, programmed beats alongside broody bass lines, forlorn synth glares, and pained guitars, meandering and achingly weeping around sad, withdrawn female vocals, airily drifting into worthlessness and shame. More ripping and distorted the flip, led by an agonizing male vocal delivery.

Wave Tension Records presents “Obscura Pulse I”, the first 10-track volume of the Dutch label’s new compilation series, “delving into contemporary pulsating sounds of underground wave-infused music”. Amid European long-time proven acts and new promising talents, the album includes five previously unreleased tracks, among which the first disclosed are the electrifying spectral club-minded darkwave from the label-affiliated Dutch queen Camy Huot and German DIY minimal synth artisan Age O.P.F., whose contribution rattles its way with crisp rhythmical precision and uplifting declaiming passion to conjure glints of strength and hope. In short, plenty of wide-ranging dark irons in the fire, surely not to be missed.
